the kids found this ant hill which had been invaded by water and the ants clung together to form ant boats...it was fascinating...they were moving all the time in a clump....we watched them for ages

Sunday afternoon walk in the woods

we came home from church and changed into play clothes (i wore my shamrock dress from the thrift shop to church...couldn't resist) and headed into the woods....the entire flood plain was water and some of it really deep! the kids played and played....titus sang out from my back...it was such fun!

seriously these things are so good! my friend tasha taught me...

1 banana, 1 egg and a big scoop of almond butter or peanut butter..mix it up like a pancake batter ...fry in pan like a pancake and top with coconut butter and honey and some (yes we went to the grocery store after we returned from having the plague last week =)) strawberries! delicious!!!

marbling paper

i found this little kit via 'deceptively educational' blog....and it is such fun! great for a lesson in surface tension too! basically you drop paints on the water, then lay on paper and voila! you can do it to material or rocks..whatever! the kids made countless pages of beautiful designs!

january's anne party

here are a few more pics of our party for the book club in january! i dressed as anne and titus dressed as gilbert...we ate custard with mice in it...raspberry cordial and fruit and tart things =) we made hats with hair and made geometric shapes...we drew our surroundings and gave all the inanimate things names =)

we took a long weekend trip to the beach last month

with some great friends...it was such fun! we packed a lot of play into a couple days...the kids played and played and played.... =)

burning the woods

well, it takes a bit to upload but i am just going to do it bc there are so many things that have happened the past few months!

josh burned these woods...the pine trees all around our house...and it was exhilerating...truly!

the kids and i ran through the woods chasing the fire line and taking pics...

jack said it looked like a battle scene and i thought how right he was...it was smokey and fires burning here and there....not sure where he got the impression but did remind me of a civil war scene.

and it was like snow afterwards...mostly bc it was no monochromatic...everything was black..instead of being all white with snow...amazing.
