Book Titles for our kids this year!!!

after much reading of reviews and gleaning suggestions from family andirons...we have our reading list!! woo hoo!!



August - The Ghost in the Tokaido Inn by dorothy and thomas hoobler (this will correspond to our history..nothing about an actual ghost but about japan)

September - The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden (ends in September with our chirping crickets)

October - Cecile Gates of Gold by Mary Casanova (corresponds to history and about french royalty)

November - Laddie A True Blue Story by Gene Stratton-Porter (bought this years ago and knew i wanted to read it to the kids....about family, farm and education in a beautiful story)

December - Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt (short and dreamy...good for December =))

January - Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink (harkening to our collective love of pioneering)

February- The Old Man and the Boy by Robert Ruark (fishing, hunting...but about the relationship between a boy and his grandfather....)

March - Watership Down by Richard Adams (about rabbits...about WW2 ha! listened as a child and LOVED it)

April - The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate Dicamillo (esme was given this by her grammy for Christmas....about the meaning of love...)

something new

i am NOT a good seamstress…

at all

i like to do things lickity split and i understand something like this takes precision!

anywho…we have the wonderful little quilt shop literally 2 miles down the road and the materials are just wonderful….and the quilts amazing..

so i figured i would give it a whirl with some of the kids old clothes! ha!

so here are my first 2 squares which don’t line up, don’t match and aren’t actually the same size ha! but still having fun!
