josh and i are in columbus...he is working! yay!

a beautiful oath..
josh has to sign this oath to be a part of the fire department in columbus...
i read it last night and was struck by how serious and beautiful it is...
in a world where we seem to shy away from absolutes and where it is hard to find places of true honor and service...i was taken by its simplicity and power...
here's the bit i liked the best:
"i will live my life as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of others. i will be honest in thought and deed in both my personal and professional life. i will never permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or freindship to influence my decisions. i recognize the badge of my profession as a symbol of public tyrust, and i accept it to be held so long as i am employed by the columbus department of fire and ems. i will strive to acheive these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession."

thanksgiving morning
it is so beautiful and misty and lovely =)
we got up and had our green shakes and bagels...
and then played in the hay...making a great big house to play in =)
and took hot baths....
cooked some pumpkin soup and pumpkin pie (slightly burned around the edges =))
...
and now about to pile on the bed and read until time to head to my brother's house for thanksgiving!
so so lovely!
we are so very blessed....
we've decided to hang around a bit more this week and then head to columbus...and i'm glad...
we need a little rest and recoup i think!~

a band of 2
this weather has been irresistibly wonderful...
it is no wonder why i like the fall so much =)
both josh and i the past couple days have found it a bit hard to focus...
the wedding preparation was such a marathon of sorts...and now that it is over, i can't seem to find the steam to run these other "little" races like packing up the house and finishing off projects....
josh starts work on monday in columbus and i think we are just going to all head down there (to a cabin our friends are wonderfully letting us stay at until we find a place!!!)
the kids and i can rest and play on the river(it is on the flint river) while josh is at academy and then we can hear first hand how his days are going....
we will have lots of folks in and out anyway over the next couple weeks finishing up the house...so it will be a good time to not be around...
thanksgiving tomorrow! we have so much to be thankful for!

yesterday kory hung out here and helped with all sorts of stuff...

and we roasted some seeds...the kids love them bc they "taste like popcorn"
josh decided it would be fun to jump off the porch =)
and promptly grazed the large tree =)
he's fine =)

jack's coop preschool came out on monday...so sweet...they made him a shirt with all their handprints!

where foxes hurl insults about grinding their bones and foxes also get scalded to death

so many sweet and wonderful faces
tonight we had the going away party....really just a chance to see so many people we love and will miss dearly by not living here anylonger..
i remembered my camera towards the end of the evening so only captured a few faces....
and i sat around the fire while friends played such good music and it all just sort of came on me...that we are really leaving!
i couldn't help but cry a bit...a mixture i think of exhaustion from the weekend and the realization that now we set ourselves towards new place....a new world for us....
we are so very grateful for all the joy and friendship we have found here in athens...and will sorely miss it...
thank you so very much!
