bill rode with him on the grass....and taught him where to look...
he was sooo proud i can't even explain....he jumped off...well, crashed off...the stopping part we dont' quite have down yet...
and yelled "mamma!!!! am i a genius?"

mud
in the first photo, you can see jack....waaay in the distance running in the fields
and one of the horses that kept nipping at me...i have this o so great way with animals..i give off the "i am lower than you"smell i think
dogs love to jump up on me, horses like to nip at me...i dont' know..i am certainly no whisperer of anything...
but i do so love horses...
and the mud!@
ha!
the kids played and played..i stripped them down when it was time to go and popped them in near naked...
and we were towed to the gate by a tractor....

the stone wall
chiquita had a group come up and make the stone wall after i left too...this is the first time i've seen it up close (photos before) and it is really a feat....
drystacked urbanite...or broken concrete....the stuff folks throw out at dumps...and i am thinking she probably had them dig a foundation...that is a loooot of work!

the chapel
so chiquita wanted this chapel to be veeeeery rustic...she wanted a medicine wheel in the floor..which meant a lot to her and she actually put in after i left....the door too she had built...
the walls are plastered with horse poop!
ha!
i remember my friend michael was home from med school...summer i think..and i said "heeeey wanna hang out! come and help me of the chapel!"
to which he readily agreed...
only to arrive and find this huge trough of poop i'd collected and watered down and mixed up with a little clay....and we stomped it and used our paws to smear it on....
i remember laughing with michael pretty much more than anyone else in one hang-out time...
he was always game for whatever but i dont' know if he reaaaallly thought this was super fun =)

chiquita's service
so it was wet
and rainy all the more and when we pulled in we were directed to a mud pit to park...and i laughed and said "um, i think i am going to get stuck"
to which they looked at my enormous truck and replied "aw, you'll be fine just park over there..."
which was on the other side of teh mud...as in, i had to go through it to get there...
anywho...i knew there was a tractor on the premises...so i went for it and became royally stuck
the celebration with in the poll barn...bluegrass music, small "service", potluck and photo montage
and you know, this may have been just right for chiquita...everyone did seem to be able to express their emotions....
but i coudn't help but feel the need to grieve and wanted the atmosphere to be a grieving one....
at least one where i felt at home to cry and not like i was spoiling the fun
i think funerals are too quickly done....and what i mean is that i feel in most cases (and maybe this just wasn't one) but in most cases people need a pre-0rdained time for grieving....not that more won't go on in many other ways and other times...but that the emotions just sort of flow at funerals...and that is good i think.
anywho
the kids and i when the rain went off, walked up the hill to the chapel i built just before i met josh....
the horses were RUNNING in the fields...in the mist..it was magical and beautiful....
it was uncanny to watch my children running around this structure i made so long ago...during a time of my own grieving and sorting things out....
and now here were my kids....playing in and out of the doors and loving all the little seats outside...
it was neat...
