Terrapin Beer and Music night

a couple nights ago, we went with cameron and the kids to watch dodd and david and nols play at the terrapin...
jack and i started a tour of the brewery and then ducked out bc it was way too intellectual for us =)
the music was fun and the kids LOVED it!
who would have thought a beer night could be so kid friendly!

i found some great seed pods i am going to try to propagate...catabaw? hillary?

this morning we went to check on our little webbed feet friends....and their 4 new pals.
i think they see our big white truck and must imagine it to be their big white mama...bc they come running in a line when we drive up...
or maybe it is bc they are now conditioned to a white truck meaning food...
or maybe they do this to everyone and we are not so special =)
anywho....
they are so fun and i am always glad we decided to let them go here....they seem to happpy!

they are laying! yay!

crazy....
one buys these adorable little chicks and feeds and waters them, builds homes for them to protect their feathery selves, and finally...FINALLY, they start laying eggs....6 months later! =)
i build them a little shelf from scrap wood and we have one laying blue eggs!
they are staying "penned" up for a while until the new plants can really take root...i don't want them scratching it all up and eating my "salad"

still overgrown but getting there

i took out the tomatoes and cucumbers and beans and replaced them with broccoli, cauliflower, collards and cabbages...
i like that name...for a cat maybe...cabbages.

NOW they want to play in the water!

this summer we sort of had hose days....but let the weather turn slightly chilled and of course they want to get soaking wet! i think it is bc they know we don't want to inch close and turn it off ...so they have free reign =)

we left the playground and headed to maryloo's house...the kids played and played and turned their little mouths red and purple with popscicles.....

what a beautiful past couple of days!
the weather has been super!
we just had to get out and i didn't have any numbers in my phone to find playmates....so we headed for the park...esme has a new love for slides....

i am not sure what has made the past week so very full...but i feel like there have been so few moments of downtime... i have been a terrible blogger...and mostly bc i have forgotten to take photos! could that be true? that camera is usually attached around my neck all day =)
anywho....
we are well here....just busy....
the kids creep earlier and earlier in the mornings so are now up just before 6...i used to steal a few minutes by myself but now we get up and hang with the crickets outside =) sammy is getting huge! i need to wean him but he protests so loudly!
we have replanted the garden with winter crops.....brocolli, cauliflower, collards, lettuce and cabbage....and ripped up most of the old stuff....
i finally put away a huge load of growing laundry on the guest bed..it was a feat!

it started swooping round and round and jack thought it was a game to try and catch it...

a house of firefighters

marie sent jack this fire chief coat in the mail and he is thrilled!
it has barely been off his little back since it arrived...and as soon as he leaves for school and has to part with it for a little while, esme swoops in and drags all the paraphenalia my way and "asks" for me to dress her up...

we also just found out the athens firefighting hiring pool has opened up ....
which means there is a chance that josh could get a job here! and we wouldn't have to move!!!! yay!!!!
anywho....we'll have to see....
